Sara Fiala writes fiction and poetry exploring the lives of women, the pull of the past, and the occasional intrusion of the uncanny. Her stories often uncover hidden histories and lives unsettled by things that resist easy explanation. Angels have been known to show up, murders occasionally complicate matters, but the dessert cart is rarely out of reach.
She has spent much of her life in New England, at home in a landscape filled with trees and in the company of beloved dogs. A student of esoteric philosophy, she is drawn to the mystery of the natural world and to what might lie beyond the readily visible. Her current novel, Grace Cove, unfolds during the summer of 2004 in a small town on the coast of Maine, where ordinary life is being quietly unsettled by a series of inexplicable events.
When not traveling in fictional worlds, Sara enjoys turning paint and torn scraps of paper into questionable collage and recreating (non-lethal) historical recipes.
